I found Ross Roofing on Which? Trusted Trader and hoped the positive reviews were a true reflection. I'm happy to say they are.
From the moment Jason came out to look at my roof, he was polite and informative, talking me through what needed to be done.

Was well worth waiting for Jason to carry out some small roofing repairs. Arrived on the agreed date and told me his plans and kept me updated throughout. Appears to have carried out the work to a very high standard. He's very thorough and identified some areas of concern and remedied them without any extra charge. He tidied up afterwards and sent us photos of the work done. We're very pleased he did the work for us.

Jason was brilliant to work with. He communicated extremely well and kept you informed on what he was doing, what needed to be done, explaining materials and labour. He really made you feel that you could trust him completely in terms of his reliability, knowledge and competence. He got the job done very well, no problems since (touch wood) and his pricing was very fair. We would highly recommend Jason. He is a consummate professional.

Rotten fascia boards, dodgy guttering, insufficient downpipes, punctured flat roof covering, repointing of ridge tiles - Jason fixed the lot. He overcame challenges along the way, an asbestos garage roof, brittle corrugated plastic roof panels, even the weather was against him at times but he persevered and I am delighted to now have sound guttering. He answered questions and explained what he was doing as he went. I always felt informed about what was happening. A very tidy, hard working and friendly person. Thanks Jason!

Very happy with Jason for fixing our roof. Prompt with communications, no over pricing or telling you to carry out extra work. Left the place tidy after. Overall very nice experience, will call again for future work.

New Roofs, Tiling & Slating

We install all types of roof tiles, from leading UK tile makers. Every new roof includes airflow, insulation, ridge and verge detailing.

Clay & Concrete Roof Tiles

A defining feature of 1930s semi-detached homes across Great Baddow, Galleywood, and Springfield. Roof shapes designed to suit the profile and weight of traditional tiled roofs.

Clay tiles provide a traditional appearance, while concrete tiles create straight lines and an orderly finish. Both tiles suit family homes, providing strength and long-term performance.

Interlocking Roof Tiles

Standard on post-war homes and newer builds in Chelmer Village, Tile Kiln, and Beaulieu Park. Interlocking tiles fit tightly together to create a strong seal against wind-driven rain.

Consistent shape and wide coverage make them ideal for larger roofs. Where clean lines and reliable weather protection are required.

Man-Made Slate

Commonly specified for newer homes and extensions throughout Chelmsford. Man-made slate closely matches the appearance of natural slate.

While offering consistent sizing and reduced weight. Ideal for modern homes, loft conversions, and extensions. A sleek finish without the structural demands of natural slate.

Flat Roofs

Standard on garages, rear extensions, and dormers throughout Chelmsford. Flat roofs are finished with purpose-designed waterproof materials on properties in both established areas, such as Moulsham and newer developments.

Flat roofs are built for durability, coping with standing water, temperature variation, and constant exposure to the elements.

Roof Repairs

Leaving roofing faults unchecked can lead to damp, rot, leaks and costly damage inside your home.

Our repair services are fast, simple and affordable.

We identify problems and complete repairs using high-quality materials that match your existing roof.

Flat Roofs

Flat roofs are common across Chelmsford on townhouses, dormers, garage conversions, and extensions.

Three-Layer Felt

A well-established flat roofing material. Built up in stuck-together layers to create a durable, waterproof roof covering. Strong weather cover at a low cost and widely used on garages, porches, and rear add-ons of older homes throughout the city.

Torch-On Felt

Heated sheets form a tough, watertight layer. Excellent protection from wind and rain, and widely used on extensions, blocks of flats, and low-rise business buildings.

GRP Fibreglass

A joint-free, resin which hardens into a solid, watertight roof. GRP is well-suited to extensions, dormer roofs, and new homes. All of which require a clean finish and long lifespan.

EPDM Rubber

Known for its flexibility, low upkeep and extra-long life. Widely used on extensions, dormers, garages, and garden rooms across Chelmsford. EDPM is well-suited to larger flat roofs.

Leadwork & Flashing

Leadwork keeps homes leak-free.

We offer a complete range of leadwork services. All materials are BS EN 12588 milled lead, fitted in line with LSA trade standards:

Step Flashings & Soakers

Used where an angled roof meets an upright wall, the side of a house or extension. Separate lead soakers sit beneath each tile, while the step flashing covers the joint and is fixed into the brickwork, directing water down the roof without penetrating the structure.

Lead Valleys

Lead valleys are fitted where two roof slopes meet to form an inside corner. They carry rainwater down to the gutter. An essential part of the roof’s drainage system.

Parapet & Dormer Coverings

Lead is used to cover parapet walls and dormer roofs. Creating a continuous waterproof layer which can handle shifting and weather. On parapet walls, lead protects the top and sides from water getting in. On dormers, it makes up the main roof covering or detailed joins around windows.

Weathering For Flat-To-Pitched Joints

Used where a flat roof meets a pitched roof. Closing off the joint and guiding water away from it. Lead is laid over the flat roof upstand and built into the tiles or slates above. Creating a durable, movement-tolerant seal.

Fascias, Soffits & Guttering

We install Fascias, soffits, guttering, and downpipes.

Fascias

Fascias are the flat boards fixed to the roof edge that support the bottom row of tiles. They provide a secure fixing point for guttering. uPVC fascias resist rot, bending, and water. A long-lasting replacement for wood. They require minimal upkeep, don’t need painting, and give the roofline a clean, tidy look.

Soffits

Soffits are fixed under the fascia to cover the underside of the roof edge. They protect roof timbers from the weather and allow airflow into the roof space to reduce damp. uPVC soffits are strong, easy to clean, and supplied with built-in air vents.

Guttering

Guttering collects rainwater from the roof. Directing it away from your home. uPVC guttering is lightweight, strong, and won’t rust. It’s easy to maintain, cost-effective, and helps prevent damp, water staining, and damage to brickwork and foundations.

Roof Windows & Skylights

We fit Velux windows, flat roof skylights, sun tunnels, and lanterns.

Velux windows

Roof windows fitted into sloping roofs bring in daylight and air. Widely used in loft conversions and bedrooms across Chelmsford. Common in Victorian terraces around Springfield and Old Moulsham.

A pair of Velux windows can turn a dark loft into a ready-to-use bedroom or home office. Adding light while meeting building rules.

Flat Roof Skylights

Sit flat or modestly raised above flat roofs, filling single-floor spaces with daylight. They are a popular solution in rear kitchen extensions.

For example, a new extension to a 1930s house in Great Baddow could include a large flat roof skylight above the kitchen-diner. Flooding the space with natural light while maintaining privacy from nearby homes.

Sun Tunnels

Small systems which carry light through tubes into internal rooms. Ideal for homes where hallways, bathrooms, or stairwells don’t have outside walls.

A sun tunnel can brighten a windowless landing or ensuite with minimal building work. A simple solution for tight or hard-to-use spaces.

Roof Lanterns

Glass, raised frames installed on flat roofs to maximise light and create a main feature. A large aluminium lantern over an open room adds height, visual interest, and steady daylight throughout the space.
